Beaches
Preferred by nature lovers for its crystal clear waters and the green landscape, Alonissos showcases a number of beaches. Most beaches on the island are pebbled, with the exception of a few that are a little bit more sandy, for example Vythisma Beach, Tsoukalia Beach, Chrisi Milia. At the top of the list for most visitors are the beaches of Kokkinokastro, Leftos Gialos, Megalos Mourtias, Megali Ammos, and Ag. Dimitrios. There are also a number of smaller beaches that are not as easy to get to, as the roads to them are unpaved, but are equally beautiful. And of course, there are many others accessible only by boat.
The Marine Park
The waters around the island are the cleanest of the Aegean Sea and in 1992 were declared to be the first national marine park in Greece. This was due to concern that the rare species of the Mediterranean monk seal was becoming increasingly endangered. A centre of refuge and care of rescued seals is based in Alonissos while the protected waters of the park are a breeding ground for the monk seal. Other than the monk seals the area is an important habitat for many species of fish, birds, reptiles as well as other rare species of the Flora and Fauna of the island.

The International Academy of classical Homeopathy
Because of the richness of the soil and the mild climate, a wide range of herbs are growing in Alonissos, which is why the island is the centre for the International Academy of Classic homeopathy. It is the only institution in the world dedicated exclusively to the teaching of Homeopathic Medicine. Every year, during the summer months, groups of doctors from various countries gather to be trained at the Academy.

The Museum
The many empires that ruled Alonissos, such as the Byzantine, the Venetian and the Ottoman left their traces on the island, and those manifestations are shown at the Folklore Museum, which is located in the main port of Patitiri. The Folklore Museum, which was established at 2000, depicts how life used to be before the terrible earthquake in 1965 that torn down most buildings on Alonissos.
