Scuba diving

Following the lift of government restrictions, Alonissos is rapidly becoming known as the Aegean’s new dive destination as the surrounding area is host to a large concentration of ancient and Middle Ages sea wrecks, as well as the National Marine Park, one of the best preserved marine ecosystems in the Med.
Casa Kalypso is located 300 meters north from IKION diving centre in Steni Vala.
For more information on diving cources, visit www.ikiondiving.gr

Sheltered by the neighbouring island of Peristera, the calm waters of the east coast, where Casa Kalypso is located have become a favorite spot for kayakers. A sea kayaking company offers half day, full day and two day overnight “wild camp” guided trips.

Boat tours

One of the most popular tours from Patitiri harbour is the daily boat trip to the National Marine Park. These trips take in the sea caves on the northern coast, before travelling north to the island of Kira Panagia (Virgin Mary), to visit the Byzantine monastery built in the 6th Century.
Information regarding this, and other excursions you can find at the Travel Agencies along the seaside of Patitiri.

Visiting other islands

From Patitiri, ferries leave on a daily basis to both Skopelos and Skiathos. Hydrofoils take only 20 minutes to reach Skopelos and an hour and half to Skiathos. Alonissos also has a ferry connection to Skyros island.
It should be remembered that changing schedules and adverse weather conditions can affect all ferries and timings should always be checked locally.

The museum

The many empires that ruled Alonissos, such as the Byzantine, the Venetian and the Ottoman left their traces on the island, and those manifestations are shown at the Folklore Museum, which is located in the main port of Patitiri. The Folklore Museum, which was established at 2000, depicts how life used to be before the terrible earthquake in 1965 that torn down most buildings on Alonissos.
